Jason Winikoff's field research

Jason Winikoff, ACTOR student member from the University of British Columbia and co-founder of the Sub-Saharan African & Afro-Diasporic Music sub-working group completed his 11 months of field research in Zambia. This fieldwork was for his doctoral dissertation in ethnomusicology which examined the role of timbre (and orchestration) in Zambian Luvale makishi masquerade theatre. The field research took place from October 2, 2021 to August 31, 2022, and was Jason's 5th extended research trip to Zambia. Learn more about his research with the link!
