The ACTOR Project is an international transdisciplinary partnership that aims to bring timbre and orchestration to the forefront of scholarship, practice, and public awareness through collaborations among world-class artists, humanists, and scientists.
This 7- year project (2018-2025) linking research and creation is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

Timbre and Orchestration Resource
This resource is an open-access web platform supporting the analysis, creation and teaching of timbre and orchestration. It represents the public-facing output of ACTOR’ international research project.
Timbre and Orchestration Summer School
The ACTOR Project hosts an annual Summer School, hosted over a few days, in different locations around the world. The 2025 edition will take place in Montreal, June 3–7.
